Lean PCOS, Pain, And Endo Questions

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Shelby, AL

I was recently diagnosed with PCOS because I was having extreme pain (thought it was appendicitis for a hot second) and that prompted my doctor to refer me to an OBGYN who ran tests and ultimately diagnosed with PCOS. I'm actually underweight, and that actually makes me feel a little helpless because weight loss is the number one treatment. I started Provera last month and it seems to be working to right my periods which were hopelessly irregular and almost non-existent
But the question of… read more

Anyone Dealing With Facial Hair?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Pembroke Pines, FL

Anyone dealing with the “wonderful” facial and chest hair?
I was given spironolactone but that gives me the tastes of pennies all day. I did the cream but it burns when I have to shave it. I used to wax my face which seemed to help, but now I work out in the public, I can’t walk around with a full beard until my next waxing day.

Spironolactone works somewhat decently when I use it regularly. It tastes disgusting. I use a compounded liquid version. I drink a little bit of Coca Cola after I take it. It has thinned out the hair… read more

Alone...

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Alton, TX

Is it just me or does having PCOS make you feel like you're not a good enough person. My doctor seems to think it's so easy to lose weight and all is forgiven, but so much comes with being diagnosed. I was diagnosed in 2018 after trying to conceive, hypothyroidism right after that diagnosis, then I live and breathe dandruff, dry skin and facial hair. As if having low self esteem wasn't enough now I look in the mirror and see a disgusting person! I feel so alone dealing with this diagnosis… read more

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Newport News, VA

So i had learned to avoid white bread and rice, awesome. was used to that. Then I hear that I have to avoid other foods as well. What foods do we have to avoid. Most of what is okay to eat, I hate the taste of, or it doesn't sit well with me (for example seafood).

I read lots of information online but most websites just make it sound terrifying! My husband and I are thinking about trying to get pregnant in the next couple months. I am on bith control and know that I need to have 3 periods consecutively before we can try. Is there any tips afterwards to try to conceive?
