Anyone Using Metformin? How Has Your Experience Been? Any Advice?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Berrien Springs, MI

My husband and I have been trying for almost 3 years with no luck. My last OBGYN had done nothing. When I complained of having 2 periods in 12 months nothing. Never talked to me about how dangerous that can be. All she ever did was yell at me for being overweight but did nothing to help me. I recently decided to switch doctors. The new one seems to have a great plan for helping us get pregnant. She started me on metformin to help regulate. She said it may also help me lose weight. I work out 2-3… read more

Any Alternative Ways Other Than Shaving To Remove Facial/chin Hair?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Savannah, GA

I have very course hair on my chin and neck area. It is light in color but I am self conscious about it. It grows back very quickly so I end up shaving everyday. However lately it has caused razor bumps/burn from doing it so frequently and for so long. I now have to shave and use makeup to cover the bumps and redness. I also can not use products like nair. I have sensitive skin and it burns when I apply it.

I’ve never been comfortable growing it out enough to wax as mine is really dark and thick, so I’ve mainly plucked (which takes ages!!) and had to do this a few times a week, I do shave my neck chin… read more

Metformin/Clomid/Letrozole + TTC

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Rochester, NY

Hi all, my doctor told me to do research on the meds listed ^^ above. I was just curious if anyone has tried any of these singularly, or combined while TTC? My husband and I are trying naturally for the next three months before meeting with my OB to develop a medical plan to help us conceive. These were the only three she mentioned. So I am open to other suggestions, but these are the primary ones I'm looking at right now.

What Acne Products Work Best?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Boston, MA

What products or methods have worked best for clearing your skin? My husband and I are trying to conceive, so birth control, spironolactone, etc aren’t options for me right now and I’d like to try to avoid a medication approach anyway. What’s worked for you?

Also in the market for new foundation and moisturizer refommendations!

A myPCOSteam Member

I try to avoid anything with fragrance and I found this naturally scented face wash called Avalon Organics face wash with lavender and prebiotics. It's the best thing for my skin!

Snacking

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Stafford, UK

At work I am finding myself doing off phone work more than on phone work and I am trying to train myself to not eat unless it's my breaks, I am struggling with this and I have brought in fruit to snack on rather than sweets and crisps but I want to get out of this habit can anyone suggest anything I can do to help or is it just my lack of will power holding me back??
Anything would be helpful.

Food As Medicine?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Landenberg, PA

Has anyone tried any natural solutions like eating different? I've been reading a lot about trying to reverse insulin with resistance and excess androgens by changing how you eat. Some suggestions are going gluten free and maybe dairy free as well as limiting sugar. I love breads, cheese, and wine so I've found this difficult, but if it's worked for others than it's worth a shot. Also have been reading about inositol with myo-inositol and different supplements such as magnesium, B vitamins… read more
