Icsi
So finally after 3 1/2 years of trying for a baby my self and my husband have been told we have now been referred to have icsi treatment I know very little about this and don't want to read about it on Google and was wondering if anyone had any advice or anything am excited to start but also terrified at the same time
Hi, I had ICSI in order to have both my boys who are gorgeous 6 and 8 year olds now. In reality it's not much different to traditional IVF, they just do the joining of the eggs and sperm for you rather than waiting for them to do it themselves. The only thing I would caution about is the rate of success for fertilised eggs getting to 3/5/7 days for transfer. We had lots of eggs (due to PCOS) but out of 18 or so we were left with 1 to transfer - but he did become my beautiful 8 year old. The drs didn't really understand our situation properly so we'd been told it would be highly successful etc so it was hard to go through the process as we felt very let down as the numbers kept dropping. The second time around for baby number 2 we ended up with 5 ready for transfer. It's so individual but just keep it in your mind, I hope with that info you won't feel so much the pain I felt as we were basically told from 18 we'd end up with 10 to transfer or something like that and I wish someone had understood PCOS and had let us know that the first time they do it it's really just wait and see. Good luck!
