Medications?`
I was wondering if anyone knew of a medication other than Metformin that can be taken for PCOS. I have an appointment with a new doctor next month. In the meantime I have been researching things I want to ask her about. Metformin makes me so sick. I have tried everything I can and every suggestion that's been given and nothing helps. Do any of you take anything different? I'd like to bring them up as options to her as well as research them a bit.
I'm on a low dose of spironolactone, which helps with all the pesky symptoms, as well as a myriad of vitamins and supplements. Try to go the natural route to heal your body. There are so many great natural and herbal remedies these days.
Soccer chick, that was kind of what I meant but I didn't explain it very well! Most people don't know they're pregnant until their first few weeks in and then you stop taking it but in those early stages it won't have done any harm.
I looked into Spironolactone before and it said it had to be taken with birth control. I have tried everything I can to get the Metformin to stop making me so sick. I'm on 1000mg extended release as well and take a probiotic daily as I have for many years. I tried evening primrose, pregnitude and now vitex with my Metformin to see if it would help my cycles but none of that so far is working. I just hope this new doctor that I see later this month will actually help as the previous one seemed like she wanted nothing to do with me once she found out I had PCOS. She was all excited we were TTC but then I got diagnosed and she just kind of didn't care anymore it seemed.
I already had stomach issues when I started on the Metformin. It honestly took me quite awhile to find a way that it would work for me. The way that I take it now, that doesn't mess with my stomach as much is that I am on the 1000mg Metformin extended release, Protonix, and a probiotic. I hate that I am taking so many pills, but it is what works for me at this time, while still taking the Metformin.
And a counter to Rivka; I was told that you need to stop Spironolactone ASAP when you find out you are pregnant. It is a testosterone reducer, and if you are having a boy, it can result in incorrect development of certain areas of the body that are guided by testosterone.
