Lately I have been having very bad stomach pain and either constipation or have the runs. I have these painful rumbles in my stomach. I usually have indian ginger tea in the morning which has milk, and straightaway after I have to use the bathroom. Didn't think much of it! But today I had coffee with a little milk and raw brown sugar, sam thing happened but it was more painful, then I had some cereal and milk same thing!! I looked online what the symptoms for dairy intolerance is, I have almost… read more

I am lactose intolerant and became so during puberty. My naturopath believes that it is all intertwined with the hormone imbalances and PCOS. If you have PCOS, you should get off dairy whether you're intolerant or not. There's too much hormone in cow's milk. There are so many dairy substitutes nowadays too!

It sounds like a lactose intolerance. When I was 12 I had a bad reaction after a day at the county fair with lots of sun and ice cream. My mom, who was also intolerant, took me off all dairy for a week or two then slowly add back a bit at a time, with the stuff that has the least lactose (aged cheese) to most ice cream. I can do low lactose items (cheese and yogurt) and a little bit of sour cream, I avoid milk and ice cream, except on special occasions (and willing to take the consequences).

Anyway, double check with your doctor but it does sound like and intolerance or possibly an allergy.

@A myPCOSteam Member It's going okay. Have had to cut a huge family of spices etc out of my diet so that's fun...not. I'm so glad cutting out dairy has helped you :) Zantac is usually a secondary line of defence here. In the last couple of years they've been prescribing omeprazole so if it doesn't settle down you could try that.

If you want recipe help, let me know it's particularly hard to eat out without dairy because everything seems to have cheese or cream in, but it is possible and there are some good alternatives.

@A myPCOSteam Member I remember...how is the celery allergy working out? I have switched to lactose free milk the last few days, it seems to be calming my stomach down a lot. I also was diagnosed with esophagitis after my endoscopy so I have been eating smaller but more, and softer so easier to digest and been on Zantac for the inflammation, been coughing still but over much better. I am having trouble finding things to eat out and things to make at home no with the lactose problem! =( this is getting more and more depressing I feel so left out!

@A myPCOSteam Member a lot of things will cause those symptoms including gluten and raffinose intolerances. Lately for me it's been things in the celery family :(
