Helpful To See Gyno For PCOS?
My family doctor wants me to see a gynocologist for my PCOS, does anyone know if that would be helpful?
This is coming from a doctor who doesn't even know what a reproductive endocrinologist is...
I went to my gyno in order to even be diagnosed. Actually I went to two of them because the first doctor decided he wasn't going to tell me when he did the ultrasound a year prior and decided to keep just pumping me with birth control. The second gyno only seen me for 10 minutes and knew what was wrong. He then ordered the ultrasound from the year prior from the hospital and showed me exactly what was wrong. I tried a weight loss pill, DID NOT WORK! He then decided to do some ovarian drilling. I had over a hundred cysts lining my ovaries. 2 months after that I was able to finally get pregnant with my little girl!
I have been going to a gyn since I was 13, but it was an endocrinologist who actually diagnosed me with PCOS.
I'm also from Canada. Saw a gyn before seeing an endo before too. I think just go to as many doctors that you can so that you get many opinions.
Unless you are planning on getting pregnant, an endocrinologist would probably be your best option
That's crazy! I'm glad things worked out for you and you were able to get the help you needed @A myPCOSteam Member
I'm just trying to find a doctor to help me figure out a treatment plan to manage my symptoms as I have no interest in having kids
