Does Metformin Make Anyone Else Extremely Sick?
I'm suppose to be taking metformin for my PCOS but I always have to stop taking it because it makes me violeny sick. Like vomiting, extreme diarrhea. My doctor tells me that, that's normal and the symptoms should subside in time but they never do.
I'm just wondering if other people get this way, or if there's other alternatives?
Thank you!
I’m currently on metformin and I do not have these issues. My doctor does have my on extended release and slowly increased my dose over the course of a month and a half. I do take it 20 minutes after I eat and I do eat very clean. Currently I am up to 2,000mg a day. When I do stray from my diet I get diahrea and an upset stomach. Hope you adjust to it soon!
Are you on extended release? I read a few articles online that people had these issues with just the basic metformin. Once when they were switched to extended release it was easier on the stomach and didn’t have as many side effects.
I take 500mg, and just that does makes me sick.
it makes me sick, but my PCP told me to lessen the dosage to 500, when i used to take 2000 a day. how much do you take?
I am taking 750mg twice a day. I was lucky enough to not have any side effects. I was told side effects can take nearly a month to go away.
