How Long Is Too Long To Bleed For?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Laurel, MD

Hi,
I've had PCOS for about 2 years now, my period is super irregular but when I do have it, I bleed heavily for 4-6 weeks. I've notified my gyno, she doesn't seem overly concerned. I asked for a more agressive treatment and now I take Provera 6 weeks after the first day of my period for 14 days. Even with being on Provera, the bleeding is so heavy - does anyone else experience this? What has worked for you?
Thank you!

I used to have my cycle for 3 months I believe was the longest. I was always anemic. Sometimes though when I thought surely I must be, I wasn't. So you can go for a long period of time.
