Sharp Pain

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭

Just wondering if any of you ladies have experienced sharp pains in the ovary area? This is the third time ive had this happen since my PCOS kicked up. Just felt like a sharp almost pop feeling in my low left abdominal area, just right of my hip bone. Now it feels a bit sore in that area.

Yes definitely, about a month or so ago I had been having alternating sharp pain in both ovaries for several weeks. There was no rhyme or reason to which ovary was hurting when and ended up in the emergency room from a severe stabbing pain and loss of blood. They said it was definitely cysts rupturing but weren’t sure why it was happening and so frequently. All they could do for me sadly was high strength pain reliever and a pat on the back. My gyno tested me for pelvic inflammatory disease, two ultrasounds and did a secondary STD testing but everything showed normal and there we’re no current growth from cysts. She upped my level of estrogen and here we are two weeks into that and still having pain. I would call you gyno ASAP though. I just started bringing my smaller heating pad to work 😞

Same has happened to me at several occasion, most likely a cyst that ruptured, However if the pain persist for more then a few hours I would seek medical attention :)

I called my gynos office and asked about if/when should i go to emerge about it. Basically got "well if it's still painful after a few hours or you vomit"
