What Do You Guys Think Of Dating Your Friend’s Ex Boyfriend?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Toronto, ON

My friend was dating a guy a year ago for almost two months and things did not worke out so the broke up. A year later, him and i started liking each other and we are dating. Please don’t judge. I don’t wanna hurt her or make her sad and we both really love each other. She doesn’t know yet that we are dating. What’s the right thing to do?

This actually happened to me...

My ex and I broke up... one of his friends actually asked me to still keep in contact and hang out. Months went by and we went on a date but what he did was he was went up to my ex and ask permission and he was okay with it at the time later on it was bad where he couldn’t see us happy and stopped talking to him even though he did ask for permission. He lost a friend but when my ex got married and had kids, when we see each other one time everything was good.

10 yrs later we are married...

You need to tell him ASAP, and be prepared to be lost a friend... you need to really tell her.

Girl.
I understand she is your friend. But if she wants you happy she will be fine with it. I understand the “girl” code but to be honest if my friend found someone and is happy and it happened to be my ex GREAT! I want them happy! I have never ended a break up on bad terms. Personally just me. But I want my friend and my ex to be happy because they deserve to be happy just like I deserve to be happy. Yes. It hurts now. And you may feel like a bad friend. But keep your head up girl. You got this. Keep the faith.

Hi all
thank you for your opinions. I am not ready to speak with her yet. I do not wanna hurt her and I feel this would hurt her. She was only with him for a month and a half and he was the one who left because of some issues.
I know talking to her would be the best thing to do, but I have a feeling she will not be happy or okay about it. I really love him and he does too and we are pretty serious about it. I just don't feel ready to talk to her about it now. but i can't control feeling like i am betraying her... i feel like i am a terrible friend
