Members offered practical guidance to someone preparing for their first gynecologist appointment about PCOS, emphasizing the importance of self-advocacy, keeping a symptom journal, and requesting specific tests like estrogen and vitamin D alongside standard bloodwork. Several members recommended PCOS-specific nutritionists on Instagram, shared resources on how food affects hormones, and cautioned against relying solely on birth control to manage symptoms, noting it can mask underlying issues without addressing root causes. A recurring theme was the emotional weight of navigating PCOS, with members offering prayers and encouragement as the original poster later shared feeling discouraged about fertility challenges and the long road ahead.

Good luck! Finding a doctor who gets you is so hard!
Here’s some sources that helped me so much. @thepcosnutritionist on Facebook (and Instagram)
@pcos.weightloss ( she’s a PCOS specific nutritionist who has PCOS herself. She’s great! Also on Instagram) and www.KarenHurd.com She’s a little trickier to get info from but that’s because she’s older. She is a biochemist/nutritionist and has a encourse in her site specifically for PCOS.
I’m learning that food plays such a huge role! I first heard about Karen when my dad sent me a podcast by Lacy Phillips #75. Her interview with Karen has made me want to commit more to understanding how foods effect our hormones.

1. ask him pinpoint exactly what type of pcos you have; ie the cause.
2. make sure you get all of the blood work and tests scheduled at the appointment so none is missed.
3. i would definitely make sure to put eostrogen and vitamin d on your labs as a deficiency or too high of a level of those can really affect you and tend to fluctuate in pcos.

hi honey! the biggest tip i have for you going to any appointments is to be your best advocate. when it comes to these kinds of conditions, we are often dismissed or misdiagnosed. have a clear picture of your development and you have been lately, i keep a journal, and you can even read it out. hope this helped!

Maybe diet advice in case she / he tells you to lose weight? Can be so easy to tell someone to lost weight but they never say how.
