I Was Told By My OBGYN About 7-8 Years Ago That I Have PCOS. Earlier This Year, He Told Me I Didn't Have It. Anyone Else Experience This?

I'm constantly being monitered for my multiple cysts and have been having pain with them. Not only that, but I'm on a pretty high dosage of progesterone in order for me to have my cycles. I have multiple symptoms of PCOS, yet, he denied every telling me I had it. What would be my next step?

Sounds like you do have it to me too. I know it sucks changing doctors, but it might be good to look around.

I'm no doctor, but it sure sounds to me like you have the symptoms. Some doctors may be clueless.

Yes, I do. I was planing on going to see one I took my daughter to and she was amazing. She actually took the time to explain things and ensure we understood what was happening with me daughter. I'll be making an appointment with her very soon.
I was just curious if anyone had ever been told they didn't after being told they did. I have never had regular cycles and would sometimes go 2 years with out one before being put on the progesterone. I always have a ton of cycts and am losing hair like there's no tomorrow. The dark pigmentation, not related to diabetes as I do'nt have it, is very prominent. I thought it was odd that he told me I didn't.

That doctor's behavior is very odd. I was diagnosed ~35 years ago when it was called Stein-Leventhal Syndrome, based on my symptoms and a blood test showing low estrogen and progesterone, and elevated androgens. I was started on meds then (mainly spironolactone which helped with the acne), and I never mentioned it again to any doctor. I didn't know that my sleep problems were related till many years later. This current doctor I've been with for 10 years. I recently happened to mention that I had PCOS. She didn't know and was surprised, but she accepted it. When I transferred to her, I was already on hormones and she continued them. (Till my gynecologist removed the estrogen, after which I immediately stopped sleeping and had to go on sleep meds.) My main doctor must have thought the hormones were for menopause, though I was a bit old for that treatment.

Do you have the option of trying another doctor?
