I Am Getting An Ovarian Wedge Resection On Both Ovaries In A Few Days. Has Anyone Had Experience With This Surgery?

My doctor recommend a laparoscopic ovarian wedge resection on both ovaries. As well as looking for and possibly excising endometriosis. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2017 but have had symptoms since my first period at 10 years old. So, this has been a loooooooong journey for me. I am 26 now and finally feel like I am being listened to by my doctor about the pain, discomfort, and overall poor quality of life.

Has anyone had this procedure done? What should I expect? How was your experience? Any… read more

Ohhhh I see. Thanks for explaining! (A friend of mine had everything removed except her ovaries as well for a different hormone problem too-def seemed to help her as well) I was just curious! I am so glad it gave you some relief!

@A myPCOSteam Member - if you don’t mind me asking, was it a laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy that you had? You remove ovarian cysts? And that stopped pain and your periods somehow? Sorry, just curious cause I deal with a lot of pelvic pain everyday (I don’t have endometriosis but was wondering whether that procedure helped with cyst pain and how?)

And @A myPCOSteam Member from what I’ve read/heard it sounds like an ovarian wedge resection is similar or maybe the older version or name for ovarian drilling? And it seems like it could be promising as far as reduction in testosterone and LH levels! I haven’t had it done myself but have been looking into it recently wondering whether it would help me too. Sorry I wish I knew more information about it…I’ll have to remember to ask my doc next time I see her…but wishing you good luck and hoping you get some relief from symptoms!!
