Okay So My Most Recent Cortisol Test Came Back High..? Wtf? Every Test I’ve Done So Far Has Showed My Cortisol Was Practically Nonexistent.
Have had low cortisol show up in multiple urine, stool, and blood tests..I haven’t tried any medication intervention yet…then most recent blood test says cortisol is HIGH. What the actual heck is going on…if anybody has any insight or experience with this I’d love to know…
Oh I forgot to ask, this is probably a bit personal so you don’t have to answer this! But do you suffer with a hump on your back between your shoulder blades at all? So I do, it looks like it’s gotten bigger! I was using doctor google as you do and it mentioned Cushing syndrome and let me tell you I have so many of the symptoms for it!! I have read this is what high cortisol levels could indicate? I will be sure to come back and tell you any results I get when they are ready!
So I think tested eGFR using Creatinine it seems, also Urea and electrolytes (sodium, potassium, urea level, creatinine). Weird, the symptoms you are experiencing are identical to what mine are too! Do you suffer with palpitations too? Have you been to your opticians for an eye check too? I am signing up to a new one as my GP mentioned with headaches could be related to Retina issues etc. My last BP was 154/93 and has been consistently around or over that for some months now, it’s been steadily creeping up over the years. I’m so sorry to hear about the lasting medical problems with the Lyme disease you suffered with, that’s awful for you to be dealing with! It sounds a lot like fibromyalgia as well doesn’t it all these symptoms, my sister suffers terrible with it, plus Pulmonary stenosis and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation which is why I am also awaiting a referral to the cardiologist unit!
How are you doing today? Did you have to go for any repeat blood tests? If they are going to do some, definitely mention the kidney testing too! Always good to check! I hope you’re doing ok today.
Btw I meant to say I hope all of your tests go the best they can today!! 🤞🤞 @A myPCOSteam Member
Hmm that’s a good question! Soo I don’t typicallyyyy suffer from high blood pressure on a regular basis HOWEVER…I have gone through random points of my life showing very high blood pressure.
*Example: my BP stayed very very high (around 150s/90-100s) for about 5 months when I stopped using a certain birth control years ago..now my blood pressure is usually pretty normal? A few weeks ago it was actually extremely low..but at my doctors appt last Friday it was 145/105…now it’s back down to 125/76…so maybe BP could be a factor? Since my BP is kind of all over the place…? I also take clonidine 0.3mg 3x per day to help stabilize my blood pressure because I do suffer from POTS (or postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome which definitely has an impact on the varying blood pressure for sure. Was told I developed POTS as a consequence of Lyme disease)
I’m curious about my kidneys though because it ALWAYS feels like I need to pee…no idea why. even immediately after I urinate it feels like I need to go more..always. Other symptoms I get are: constant fatigue, irritability, insomnia, GI issues, night sweats, occasional migraines, joint pain/muscle cramping, nausea, bloating, dizziness, indigestion, silent reflux, and random chest pain that comes and goes (to name a few…not even sure what is a symptom of what anymore lol).
very interesting you mention that, I really appreciate your input and information! Thank you very much for your insight! That’s a unique data point I have yet to investigate further.
If you don’t mind me asking..what are they testing your kidneys for? (Guessing things that might indicate reasons for the high BP? Like GFR, creatinine, urea, electrolytes, albumin, creatine, BUN? Or do they have anything specific that can look for hormones impacting kidney function?)
Sorry for my super long response! Don’t feel like you need to answer if it’s overwhelming for you lol..thanks again!
Do you have many symptoms at all? I am going for a kidney and Cortisol blood and urine tests tomorrow as I have high blood pressure and had a suspected TIA or cardiac event. They need to rule out other issues causing the high blood pressure. Do you suffer with high blood pressure?
