Metformin

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Edmonton, AB

So when I read that metformin causes gas/upset stomach/diarrhea they weren't kidding. It's been about a month now and I want to know...am I going to be plagued with diarrhea forever???? It doesn't seem worth it. I'm scared to eat because I don't know what's going to make my upset stomach and diarrhea even worse than it already is.

Hi I get very heavy and painful periods and I bleed so bad I can't find any decent periods towels/ pads to use . I even used Tena lady pads for night and pants to use throughout the day . Does anyone recommend anything better then that ?

Sorry A Little TMI. Does Anyone Have Issues With Bowel Problems?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Mesquite, NV

So awkward I know, but I've had bowel problems. Some days are normal, and I will get constipation for a bit and then diarrhea for a few days. Not exactly in this order though. Well for the past week and a half I've had diarrhea and it feels like the toilet paper is made from broken glass. Though it doesn't hurt to make a bowel movement, only when I wipe. I also get a small amount of bleeding. I get cramps. I also get a sharp pain on my upper right side of my abdomen as well as it almost hurts… read more

Medications?`

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Hermitage, TN

I was wondering if anyone knew of a medication other than Metformin that can be taken for PCOS. I have an appointment with a new doctor next month. In the meantime I have been researching things I want to ask her about. Metformin makes me so sick. I have tried everything I can and every suggestion that's been given and nothing helps. Do any of you take anything different? I'd like to bring them up as options to her as well as research them a bit.

How To Deal With Hurtful Remarks About Facial Hair From Friends/coworkers?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Sylacauga, AL

Recently saw open email on work computer between my male bff and a close female friend. Childhood lifelong friends. And it was from a few years ago when one was mad about something insignificant. He asked her if my 'stache had grown out and she said I had full on beard and sent pic and he said I had more of a beard than he did and he was "rofl". It isn't that extreme but it HURT. Idk that I'll ever feel the same about him and he's like family. Grew up next door. His bro was my first bf and then… read more

No Period For Extended Time

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Lethbridge, AB

Has anyone else had no period for an extended period of time? I was extremely irregular for the two years before my diagnosis. Didn't have it for almost a year. Had it once randomly. Now it's been almost 1.5 years since I've had a period.
It scares me because I don't understand if I am even ovulating or if I will be able to get pregnant. They say weightloss can spur menstration but I've lost 29 lbs in the last 5 weeks and still nothing. It really bothers me!

Is Anyone Else Getting Really Forgetful? And Is There Anything That Can Help??

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Kinmel bay

Hi ladies,

I have searched but can not find an answer! I don't know if this is a symptom or just me getting older. Your advice and opinions would be gratefully received....

I've always had times when brain fog descends however in the last twelve months I have become so forgetful. I can remember what I ate on holiday 10 years ago but forget I've put an egg on to boil until it explodes 30 minutes later. (Countless tellings off for leaving the hob ring on for hours on end too) I lose my words… read more
