Abnormal Bleeding !

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’
New York, NY

Hello Everyone!

Has anyone else experienced prolonged bleeding while having PCOS?? I’ve had this “period” since December 2017 and was recently put on birth control to stop the bleeding due to becoming anemic. I’ve had a Pap smear and it came back “normal”. Is there something out there (besides birth control) I can take to stop this issue?

Thank you,
Monica

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’
Shelbyville, TN

I have not had a period since 2013 or 2014 so my doctor gave me until next month (June) to lose weight to jumpstart them or she was going to put me on birth control.. I’m against birth control as i have been on it previously and had really bad side effects to it. However I will also be having another ultrasound due to lack of periods. This is very depressing and stressful noone in my life understand me so its hard to express how i feel.

Try bioidentical hormones. They can be easier to control the dose. That's what I switched to. It's starting to work.

Does Birth Control Really Help?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’
Buffalo, NY

Does birth control really help regulate periods? I know that it helps regulate the shedding of your lining, but how can it help regulate your ovulation? I've always been confused about this as birth control stops ovulation. If it's not going to help me much I'd like to just get off the pill and try other methods. Any advice or insight would be helpful!!

Hi, I'm new here and I would love to hear your own experience with taking birth control to treat the symptoms of PCOS. (How long it took for you to notice some symptoms release, what symptoms were treated, do you like treating PCOS symptoms with combination birth control, etc.) I was diagnosed with PCOS two weeks ago and me and my doctor agreed on taking combination birth control (Daylette). Thank you very much.

What Kind Of Birth Control Should I Ask To Try?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’
Edinboro, PA

I was diagnosed with PCOS about three years ago, and Ive been seeing an endocrinologist about every three months since. Im 23 and only now going to a gynecologist because it scares me (both the vulnerability of it and the PCOS issues). I have pretty painful periods that I want to try to manage better with birth control, but I dont know what to get. I've been doing research and I like the idea of either an implant or a hormonal IUD, but I wanted to ask for the experience of others with PCOS… read more

Does Anyone Else Having Constant Spotting But No Period?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question đź’
Northampton, MA

I was diagnosed with PCOS and mild endometriosis in 2022. My periods have been irregular for a while now, I think it’s been around 3 months since my last period. However, for the last 4 weeks, I have spotted every day (red blood upon wiping, not enough to fill a pad) anyone else in a similar situation?
