Has Following A Specific Diet Or Meal Plan (e.g. Keto) Helped You?
I've been doing a lot of reading, and it sounds like low carb has been successful for most people with PCOS. Has anyone had luck with a ketogenic diet? It's extremely low carb, but it sounds like it would make sense.
My husband is on a keto diet it does make you feel terrible for about a week while you body makes changes but he says it's great I only eat food I can name the ingredients in and know where they came from.... typically all freshly prepared.... even my pasta.
I refuse too a keto diet as there are so many things you shouldn't eat and even though I'm mostly dairy and gluten free I like to be naughty sometimes and watching my husband feeling terrible and being sick after a few spoons full of icecream is more than enough to to make me not want to do it. Although he does overindulge on his cheat days where as I prefare little and often
I've lost 30kg from low carb dieting but put on 50kg, AVOID AT ALL COSTS! My dietician has me on a "diabetic" eating plan and the weight loss is small but gradual but more sustainable. I have to eat 8-9 carbs pts a day (15g of carbs = 1pt). I'd recommend this above everything the hard thing is the slow progress can make some does feel like it's pointless.. But after 10yrs of yo-yoing from "diets" ill take it.
I tried keto for like 3 days, I hated it lol. It made me want to vomit and I spent a lot of time on the toilet! I opt for something less restrictive now. Just low carbs, high fat and medium protein. I don't count macros or calories anymore as it led to a really dysfunctional way of eating for me but I know generally whats what nutritionally so I aim to eat mostly vege, fruit, some meat, eggs, sometimes lentils and brown rice, the odd potato or sweet potato and healthy fats. I have defo found that lower carbs have helped enormously with pain management, inflammation, bloating and losing weight but what has helped most is eating more fats to help keep me fuller and it also helps curb my cravings. I think the theory of ket is really good but when put in practice, for me was unattainable.
Low carb is the way to go with high protein especially if you are diabetic. You are best to be referred to a nutritionalist who specializes in diabetes/pcos field. You may want to see an endocrinologist if you haven't done so already.
15grams = 1 carb.
No sugar, very low carb, high protein and fat and lots and lots of veggies. I feel amazing and the weight comes off really easily. My periods are better and migraines are not as often.
Just Curious As To What Type Of “diets” Anyone Is Trying And If It’s Working?
