What Is The Maximum Number Of Laparoscopic Surgeries You Guys Have Had To Help With Symptoms?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Sylvania, GA

I have had 3 laparoscopic surgeries to remove cysts and endometriosis. I am in constant pain some days it’s debilitating. Now my ob dr is pushing me to have a radical (complete) hysterectomy. He refuses to leave any ovary which will throw me into full blown menopause. That terrifies me. I’m 38 yrs old. I’m begging for another clean out surgery and I’d like to try a lifestyle change along with that but he has dug his heels in. I’m considering getting a second and even third opinion if need be… read more

Yes definitely get a second opinion. My old doctor blamed a gluten issue on pcos for 8 years. I should have switched sooner because my quality of life is so much better since my new doctor found that.

Google doctors in your area and read reviews before you switch. That’s how I found my new doctor.

Get a second opinion. Definitely. I did, and the new doctor listened to my wants and needs. I have 2 kids, both 18 and 19 now, and it was all worth being able to start over with the new doctor!!!!

Girl, get a second, third and fourth opinikn. Its your body. Dont let im pressure you into something youre not ready to do. Doctors need tobremeber they work for us. Dont take that crap. My dad had bowel cancer that metasticised into his liver and the doctor told him hed be on chemo the rest of his life until it killed him. He believed it and was just about done living. I made him go somewhere else and suddenly there are 4 new treatment options and they are very hopeful he will be cancer free by july! You HAVE to be your own advocate. Good luck hun!

Yes!! Get more opinions! Early hysterectomies often do not fully erase your pain. I have both endometriosis and PCOS, and have found that going gluten, dairy, red meat, soy and allergen free has helped so much! I don’t eat trans fats or processed sugars. It’s a big change— but it’s so worth it. I also found a pelvic floor physical therapist, and that has been a game changer for my pain management. There are so many alternatives to try, and for me- they’ve kept my ovaries inside me, at least for a while. I found a specialist who actually suggested a blend of traditional and non traditional methods, and that was a huge, huge gift. Best of luck!
