Link Between PCOS And Hyperphotosensitivity?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Toulouse, France

I was just wondering if anyone else has problems with hyperphotosensitivity? I burn really badly. It started when I was in my early 20s - I got second degree burns on my legs after being outside for about 45 minutes and I had been wearing sun cream. At the time they told me it was the contraceptive pill I was on - it's notorious for it. I'm no longer on that pill and I'm really careful now but it's frustrating. And even on cloudy days I have to wear sunglasses because the sky is so bright. It's… read more

I was checked for rheumatism as a teenager when I first started having problems with my joints but the tests were negative then. It would be interesting to see if they've changed.

Does Gastric Bypass Help With Hormone Imbalance?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Tacoma, WA

I’ve been talking to my doctor about how I haven’t gotten my period since April of 2017 & he’s been telling me that all these symptoms that I’ve been dealing with are all due to my hormones being imbalanced & that most of my current health issues could possibly be reversed if I lost weight. The more I do to try & lose weight, the more weight I actually end up gaining & it’s frustrating. Especially when I’m putting in all the work & energy & I’m getting results that are the complete opposite of… read more

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Spokane, WA

My hormones are balanced but I still deal with hirsutism on a daily basis. So much so that I shave (my face) every day, if not twice a day.

What To Ask My PCP To Get The Most Help

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Castro Valley, CA

Hi all. I'm new on here. I have an appointment with my primary care physician Monday. I've been diagnosed with PCOS and since then have felt like I am not getting enough help. Since my diagnosis I have continued to gain weight, grow more facial hair, get more acne and overall feel awful. It is making me depressed and want to sleep all the time. I also have hypothyroidism. I want to be referred to an endocrinologist and/or a nutritionist for more help. Any suggestions on what to ask or say? Thank… read more

My insurance would let me just pick an endo and go, but I haven't found an endo that will take you WITHOUT a referral because they are so busy.

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Portland, OR

I feel as if someone is stabbing me to death in my pelvic area with each step I take. I have been experiencing this for over a year and it's awful, I have to limit my walking distance even in my own home and sit down often.

I Ovulate And Have Regular Periods But I Was Recently Disnosed; How Is This Possible?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Charleston, SC

I’m newly diagnosed and haven’t a clue what it fully means to function with PCOS. I have always had heavy periods as well as ovary pain but I’ve typically always had a cycle every 28 days and I also ovulate. However my lab work indicated that I do have it. I don’t know up from down. I’m 33 and want to have a child someday and now I don’t know if that’s ever a possibility. I’m terrified and just want hope / help.

No Periods

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Concord, NC

Anyone else NEVER get a period?

I only do when I take Provera.

I have already tried Metformin, Vitex, weight loss, exercise, clean eating. Still have never had a cycle on my own.

I just started taking inositol, so I'll give that a shot for a few months to see if that helps at all. Any other ideas? Is there anything you have been able to do to naturally get a period?

Has Anyone Ever Been Told By One Doctor That They Might Have PCOS Only To Find Out A Few Years Later That U Have PCOS?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Warrington, UK

The time I was told that I may have PCOS I was with my ex. I'd come off the pill cerazette in the April of 2012, but my periods reappeared a heck of a lot lighter than they were and it was like they were never gonna stop, so I told my ex that I would leave seeing the doctor until the New Year to give them a chance to return to "normal" as I'd been on the pill for years and I want to give my periods a chance to settle before I contacted the doctors
The following year around February or March I… read more
