Experience With IUD?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Denton, TX

I've been on tri lo sprintec for the past almost year. I've been so unhappy with it. The obgyn wanted me to be able to skip periods and I haven't been able to. It's caused me to have extended periods that are still as heavy as before. Also, the weight gain from water retention has been awful. So I've been looking into the mirena IUD and just wanted to know of any experiences with it, good or bad. I'm concerned how it would affect me having pcos.

A myPCOSteam Member

@A myPCOSteam Member hi did the IUD end up helping you with your spotting?? I’m new here and getting it soon. Thanks!

Lysine

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Toulouse, France

I was researching Lysine for my housemate (cold sores) and came across a bunch of anecdotal evidence about how it works miracles for acne, especially cystic acne, and also that there is some scientific evidence that it also helps with blood sugar. Made me realise why the recommended PCOS diet may be so effective - it's high in a lot of lysine rich foods. I can't find any specific literature about a link between lysine and pcos though. Has anyone tried it? Is it worth taking as a supplement?

For Those Taking Metformin How Strong Of A Dose Is It And Did It Cause Ill Effects?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Brewerton, NY

My doctor put me on 1000mgs and I started taking it this morning and I have had horrible stomach cramps since. I didn't know if that's a normal dose

A myPCOSteam Member

Try taking it right after you eat dinner. That is what my Dr advised me to do when I had issues and it helped soo much.

What Is Taking Metformin Like?

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Tiverton, UK

My doctor has refered me to the clinic again for scans, bloodwork etc. He mentioned Metformin might be helpful in managing my symptoms, but wants to wait until i've been to the clinic (10th november). I'm a bit scared - how do other people feel when/if they take it, if you don't mind me asking? I also take sertraline for depression, propanalol for migraines and asthma medication.

I also take 4 500mg extended release tablets. I have to take it with food or it will do a number on my stomach. If I miss a dose-500mg, I can take my full 2000mg dose the next day without any… read more

A myPCOSteam Member asked a question 💭
Oamaru, NZ

This question has probably been asked before, but I need to know which diet you found to best for PCOS weight-loss (insulin resistance).
I also want to make it a lifestyle change, and not a fad or quick fix.

There are so many options, how do I know what will work best; Low-amylose, paleo, keto, low carb, vegeterian, raw, intermittent fasting?????

A myPCOSteam Member
